Irina Rubina
Contradiction of emptiness
Résidence d'animation à l'écran d'épingles
8 avril au 8 juin 2023
VERSION ORIGINALE
Jumping into the contradiction of emptiness
A series of animated compositions.
« My original plan was to create sketches based on abstract and sensitive one-phrase-poems. But how is it possible now, in the black and white world, which is falling apart? Is there space and time for this subtility and sensitivity while the criminal genocidal russian war on the territory of the sovereign state of Ukraine is ongoing? How can one be creative during the times when innocent people are being sent to filtration camps and kids are being eliminated for their existence, for being Ukrainians? It’s impossible to hold on to these poems in that form today. They will need to be reinvented. I hope that the black and white of the extraordinary and unique Alpine will help me dive into those questions and define some gray areas in between. »
Emptiness and sharpness moving across each other.
Speedy softness bursting into the depth.
A restless jumper lands into punctuated calmness.
Rough waviness searches for a circle.
