D.^^.$.®. (Dance.Music.Sex.Romance)

D.^^.$.®. (Dance.Music.Sex.Romance) est une installation vidéographique multi-écrans en cours de réalisation. En constante évolution, ce projet explore comment l’environnement numérique – aussi bien comme interface qu’à travers la reconstruction et l’autoreprésentation de nos expériences intimes – influence la représentation que l’on se fait de soi-même. Mais aussi, quelles sont les implications de ce récent « égo-théisme » sur nos relations romantiques et érotiques.

Selon les termes de Fouracre D.^^.$.®. se décrit comme une figure de style cinématographique dite : « non-sequitur », une sorte de commentaire intempestif construisant un fil narratif chaotique, composé de courts fragments d’apparence disjoints. À la manière des bandes annonces ou des vidéoclips, la lecture de l’œuvre se fait de manière non linéaire. Tel une énigme où tous les éléments sont présentés concomitamment, le projet fait fi de la narrativité au profit d’une lecture poétique d’éléments archétypaux et propres au cinéma, qui façonnent à notre insu notre expérience émotive.

D.^^.$.®. (Dance.Music.Sex.Romance) is an ongoing and continually expanding multi-channel video project exploring how the digital environment, both as an interface and through reconstructing and publicising our intimate experiences, indirectly influences our image of self and the implications this ego-theism has on romantic and erotic relationships.

D.^^.$.®. takes the form of what Fouracre loosely terms ‘non-sequitur’ filmmaking. This technique references the formula of movie trailers, pop videos and online content where stories are suggested by short, seemingly unconnected fragments and synchronous trivia. As such the work implies, but remains noncommittal, to any direct narrative arc. In D.^^.$.®. the performance of sexual personas and cinematic archetypes are not just the device of screen-based story-telling, but inform and shape our emotional experiences in a way that is all too real.

L’œuvre vidéographique de Samuel Fouracre amalgame la prise de vue de studio directe au sein d’environnements CG. Le tout de manière à interroger les constructions délirantes du soi abandonné au sein de ces environnements. Son travail a été présenté récemment au Jerwood Staging Series, commissariée par Gareth Evans, Jerwood Space (Londres, Angleterre); au Internet Fame, une exposition commissariée par Clusterduck pour The Wrong Biennale (En ligne); Festival international du film expérimental de Moscou (Moscou, Russie) et au Internationales Kurzfilm Festival (Hambourg, Allemagne). Samuel Fouracre vit et travaille en Angleterre.

Samuel Fouracre’s video work combines live studio shooting with CG environments to question the autonomy of self and the construction and (sometimes delusionary) conviction of self-image.
